Vermont Simple House 4 is a compact house that can fit into any New England neighborhood or high on a hill in the country. The house is based on the original Greenfield house (pictured) but with some modifications and simplifications.  The staircase is considerably simplified from the original steel stair.  Eventually I hope to prepare a separate steel stair based on the original Greenfield house stair (with improvements!) that will be available for purchase separately.

The construction documents for VSH4 are rich in detailing.  These plans are for people who understand the importance of building science for lower energy costs and durability as well as what goes into creating a healthy, uplifting interior.   These plans are also for people who appreciate historic New England homes and detailing, know when they see watered down and faux interpretations of this, and appreciate a toned down and simplified aesthetic.

Purchase includes a SketchUp model and a limited amount of consulting time with Robert Swinburne, Architect. SketchUp is a free 3-D modeling program with an excellent viewer for smartphones and tablets.  This allows the purchaser to gain a much fuller understanding of the design as well as show it to friends and family.
